the iPhone 14 has not introduced too many improvements, we have already bought it with the iPhone 13 and with the iPhone 12, and the news they are quite few. However, at least in terms of specifications and features, in theory the camera has evolved. Enough to be noticed? Let’s see it.

Our colleagues from Urban Tecno has thoroughly analyzed the cameras of the iPhone 14, iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 to see how much photography and video has improved between these three generations of iPhone.

Comparison of cameras between the latest iPhone

main sensor

In good lighting conditions, we will not find too many differences between the three chambers. The iPhone 14 has a little more contrast and warmer ones, but at the level of detail there are practically no differences. At the HDR level, the iPhone 14 may be one point above.

In night photography we also find very similar images. Maybe the iPhone 14 stands out in the highlights, better managing the detail in these areas of photography. We still have higher contrast, something you may like more or less. The iPhone 14 also handles the sky better in night photography, leaving it in its natural color.

ultra wide angle sensor

the the specifications of this sensor have not changed in the three generations, so it’s probably the exact same camera. Therefore, the main differences will come from processing.

In good lighting conditions, hardly noticeable differences. At the level of detail and quality they are practically identical. And at night the same thing happens, we are facing practically the same catches.

Video

In the video section we find different modes in the most modern iPhone. the The iPhone 14 has 4K Cinema Mode and Action Mode, the iPhone 13 makes do with 1080p Cinema Mode, and the iPhone 12 has neither of those recording modes.. But more than that, the differences we found are minimal again.

The iPhone 14 may have a greater dynamic range and slightly warmer tones, but in terms of quality, detail or stabilization they are practically identical. At night things change a bit and the iPhone 14 excels with a sharper image.

frontal camera

We found very similar images, although on the iPhone 14 we find more detail by enlarging them. The front camera of the iPhone 14 has autofocus, something that is appreciated and that offers us more detailed photographs. And at night the same thing happens a bit, the iPhone 14 is slightly ahead.

Analysis and review of the iPhone 14: the good and the bad

As we can see, the differences between the three cameras are not too great. Obviously, the iPhone 14 takes better photos, but not enough to justify switching from one device to another just for the cameras.
