Here’s a look at the Week 10 results for the teams in the SBLive Illinois Power 25.
1. East Saint Louis (7-2) plays Richards on Saturday
two. Mount Carmel (10-0) defeated Buffalo Grove 49-3
It was a slow start for Caravan’s offense on Saturday, but the defense put on a stellar performance throughout the game. After scoring seven points in the first quarter, Caravan’s offense got going and took a 21-3 lead at the half. They kept the momentum going in the third quarter with 21 more points and finished the game with a 46-point win.
3. loyola academy (9-1) defeated Plainfield South 42-7
After a tough loss against No. 2 Mount Carmel last week, Loyola’s offense was strong early on as it scored 35 points in the first quarter and took a 42-0 halftime lead. With the clock ticking in the second half, Plainfield South took the board in the fourth quarter to make it a 42-7 finish.
Four. Lincoln-Way East (10-0) defeated Conant 42-7
Lincoln-Way East took a quick 42-0 lead and held Conant to 25 total yards in the first half en route to a 42-7 win. Griffin’s running game was dominant all night as they scored five of his six total touchdowns on the ground. Lincoln-Way East will meet No. 23 ranked Neuqua Valley in the second round of the 8A playoffs next week.
5. North of Wheaton (9-1) defeated Willowbrook 35-14
Wheaton North got off to a strong start and took a 21-0 lead at the half while allowing only 8 total yards of offense. Senior defensive back Karsten Libby intercepted a pass from Willowbrook on the first play of the second half and returned it for a touchdown to keep the momentum going as Wheaton North led by 21 points. The Falcons go on to play Lake Zurich in the second round of the 7A playoffs.
6. lemon (10-0) defeated Blue Island Eisenhower 55-14
Lemont did it in all three phases of the game Friday night as they put up an impressive offensive charge with more than 400 total yards, returned a punt and kickoff for touchdowns, and held off Eisenhower’s offense while they rolled at 55-14. victory. Lemont will face Quincy next week in the 6A playoffs.
7. Sacred Heart Griffin (10-0) defeated Hall/Putnam County 55-6
Sacred Heart-Griffin scored in just five plays to open the scoring and scored another touchdown on the first play of his second drive. Hall/Putnam County didn’t turn out to be much of a test overnight.
8. Simeon (10-0) defeated Oak Forest 45-8
The IHSA 6A state playoffs saw a big hit for Simeon with a 4-yard touchdown run by Andre Crews. Oak Forest responded immediately and took an 8-7 lead, but from then on it was all Simeon. Crews had four touchdowns in the offensive explosion.
9. York (10-0) defeated Oswego East 31-10
Oswego East failed to hand York its first loss of the season. York opened up a 14-3 lead in the first quarter before pushing it to 21-3 at halftime. The Dukes move on to Round 2, where they will look to remain undefeated.
10 Glenbard West (9-1) defeated Lockport 38-7
It was all about Glenbard West early on in this contest as they scored on their first possession and intercepted Lockport on their first play from scrimmage. Quarterback Korey Tai threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing score to help the Hilltoppers to a 38-7 victory. They will play Glenbrook South next Saturday in the second round of the 7A playoffs.
eleven Hersey (10-0) defeated Argo 49-14
Hersey returned the opening kickoff of this contest for a touchdown and didn’t look back from there. They took a 49-0 lead at the half and cruised to a 49-14 victory. Prospect will meet St. Rita next week in a very good second round 7A matchup.
12 Warren Township (9-1) defeated Stevenson 26-14
Warren’s defense continued to perform at a high level, while senior running back Charley Thompson led the offensive charge to help Warren to a 12-point victory over Stevenson. Warren will face 24th-ranked Andrew next week in Round 2 of Group 8A.
13 Perspective (9-1) defeated Reavis 62-13
Prospect’s offense went up in flames Friday night as they scored 34 unanswered points to take a 49-7 halftime lead and start the clock in the second half. The defense was able to force multiple turnovers to keep Reavis in check. They will take on No. 19 St. Rita in a highly anticipated Round 2 matchup.
14 O’Fallon (8-1) plays No. 17 Edwardsville on Saturday
A rematch with Edwardsville will be one of the best games to watch in Illinois this weekend.
fifteen. prairie ridge (9-1) defeated Crystal Lake South 63-55
This was expected to be a high-scoring rematch after Prairie Ridge won their first fight with Crystal Lake South by a score of 48-41, but after the first quarter the score was tied at 7. Both offenses found their stride in the second quarter when Prairie Ridge led 35-28 at halftime. The score did not slow down in the second half and Prairie Ridge was able to seal the victory with 21 points in the fourth quarter. Tyler Vasey had another dominant performance with 384 rushing yards and six touchdowns along with a passing touchdown.
sixteen. southern maine (8-2) defeated No. 25 Bolingbrook 24-0
Maine South took a 17-0 lead at the half and hung on for victory. Their defense was tough to beat as they pitched a shutout against a powerful Bolingbrook offense that came into this contest scoring over 42 points per game. Maine South will face No. 22 South Elgin next week in the second round of the 8A playoffs. Bolingbrook finished the season with a 6-4 record.
17 Edwardsville (6-3) plays No. 14 O’Fallon on Saturday
The Tigers will be looking to get revenge on O’Fallon after blowing a 13-point fourth-quarter lead earlier this year.
18 chicago marist (7-3) defeated Naperville North 42-28
Both defenses struggled to stop late in the second half, as the game ended with six straight possessions resulting in touchdowns. But it was Marist’s offense (537 total yards) that did enough to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
19 Santa Rita (8-2) defeated Geneva 27-14
St. Rita’s defense set the tone early on, as the Mustangs had a pick-six and a fumble along with a blocked field goal on special teams, all on the Mustangs’ first three defensive possessions. St. Rita opened up a 24-0 lead in the second quarter and that was enough to keep Geneva at bay.
twenty Crete-Monee (8-2) defeated Centennial 53-13
Crete-Monee came out shooting on both sides of the ball on Saturday. Lynel Billups-Williams caught three touchdown passes in the first half and the defense forced a turnover that led to a score two plays later as the Warriors went 33-6 at the half. The Warriors scored three more times in the second half to win by 40 and will face No. 8 Simeon in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs next week.
twenty-one San Carlos North (9-1) defeated Western Maine 47-10
St. Charles North scored on their first four possessions and led 26-0 after a quarter of the game. The North Star defense forced multiple turnovers and the offense was able to capitalize en route to a 37-point win in their first 7A playoff game.
22 south elgin (10-0) defeated East Belleville 28-20
South Elgin escaped the first round of the playoffs with an eight-point victory against Belleville East. Storm’s offense displayed a balanced offensive effort with nearly 400 total yards to keep their undefeated season alive. South Elgin advances to take on Maine South. Belleville East finished the season 5-5.
23 Neuqua Valley (8-2) defeated Lane Tech 37-0
The Wildcat defense was tough all night as they threw a shutout and held Lane Tech to just 34 yards of offense and contributed a touchdown. Senior running back Jaden McGee had 3 touchdowns to lead the offense as Neuqua Valley surged ahead with a 37-0 win. The Wildcats will have stiff competition in Round 2 of the 8A playoffs with a matchup against fourth-seeded Lincoln-Way East.
24 Andrew (7-3) defeated Huntley 28-18
Quarterback Andrew Skarzynski had a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown while running back Mike Barberi had two rushing touchdowns to help Andrew beat Huntley 28-18. Andrew will move on to a big second-round contest against No. 12 Warren next week. Huntley finished his season with a record of 8-2.
25 Bolingbrook (6-4) lost to No. 16 Maine South 24-0
Bolingbrook’s offense was powerless against a strong Maine South defense as they were shut out for the first time all season. The Raiders finished their season with a 6-4 record.
