Yuri84, 3 hours agoSome phones already have a 1″ sensor. Some don’t even use the entire sensor area because… plusIt’s not about 1″, some people here want a huge sensor like professional cameras.
It is impossible to fit into phones.

The medium format sensor is almost 20 times larger than the 1.0 type… the diagonal is 55mm, while the 1.0 type’s diagonal is 16mm.

HaterzGonnaHate, 4 hours agoAbsolutely nonsense. There’s no way anyone would be stupid enough to put up a gigantic sensor… plusSome phones already have a 1″ sensor. Some don’t even use the entire area of the sensor because you would need a giant lens, and not that little piece of plastic on top of the sensor that we have today. Although some may try to use the entire area, you would need to do Do your own research to be sure.

DANIEZ, 4 hours agoSO MANY TOXIC VIEWS AND COMMENTS…I use the x80 pro…super camera…the best portrait photography… plusI didn’t try the 80 but the 70 and 60 were beyond rubbish. I remember being super excited to finally afford one and even more excited to get to try them first and boy was I surprised at how bad they sucked.

Hope this one does well though, Gen 8 and fixing his past mistake would be a great combination.

SO MANY TOXIC VIEWS AND COMMENTS…I use the x80 pro…super camera…best in class portraiture and amazing night photography…looking forward to the x90 series soon…DON’T JUDGE IF YOU ARE NOT A WARRIOR KEYBOARD

Olympus Oms, 21 hours agoWe are still waiting for the medium format sensor in phones. They already have the megapixels,… plusAbsolutely nonsense. There is no way anyone would be stupid enough to put a giant sensor in a phone. Totally useless. How to install a V12 engine in a Hyundai for 10k$.

Flagship phones produce better JPG results straight from the camera because they have a higher 3ghz processor that processes the photos after they are taken. Digital cameras have better lenses and sensors, but their CPU is inferior. You have to transfer your RAW files to your computer and post-process them using Photoshop or Photolab just to maximize results.

The phones are simply superior because they use AI.

Olympus Oms, 16 hours agoFolded screens and curved screens are already popular, why not? 20 MP is more than enough. T… plusPhones and cameras worked differently, if there was a camera with a sensor like a phone the phone would still produce better results as phones use stacking, grouping and other tricks to get better.
With the number of pixels grouped increasing, I don’t see it coming back.
Although the sensor size is an advantage, I see corner softness and distortion as a bigger issue for now, I hope they focus more on that.

Look at how bizarre the 12s Ultra bump is, almost as thick as the rest of the phone.
Larger sensors like FF and medium format sometimes have features disabled in cameras due to heat.
They would melt the phones.

Larger sensors produce more heat.

vrvly, 16 hours agoBent sensors, bent lens and new phone design can help, I’d rather see better sensor technology… plusIt’s called Starvis technology. A type of exmor RS.
But this is made for industry and security cameras.
Photodiodes are much more sensitive compared to conventional sensors made for photography.

Cannot be used on phones due to amount of power used/heat generated.

All this technology is Junk, we need the Quantum image sensor that Samsung promised 15 years ago.

Well, now we know what Huawei probably did with its P50 Pro and Mate 50 Pro telephoto cameras.

In any case, I am excited about the main sensor, especially the expectations that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has for the IMX989.

vrvly, 16 hours agoBent sensors, bent lens and new phone design can help, I’d rather see better sensor technology… plusFolded screens and curved screens are already popular, why not? 20 MP is more than enough. The sensor just needs to be bigger.

Since I shoot a lot, this is at the top of my list. I was hoping for a good enough telephoto lens, 3.5x high resolution is as good as 10x poor, which is still better than 5x poor.
Hi res + raw is my favorite and this brand made it happen. There’s no reason not to buy, but with camera-focused competition like the 12SUltra and maybe a few others, it won’t be easy, price now matters even more.

Olympus Oms, 21 hours agoWe are still waiting for the medium format sensor in phones. They already have the megapixels,… plusBent sensors, bent lens and new phone design can help, I’d rather see better sensor tech at the pixel level, so it collects more light etc. though.

yes

Staggered HDR…should mean different exposure duration on different photo sites, right? A burst would be just normal HDR…however it’s a 4-1 blend not a 9-1 blend…so two blues expose the longest and one medium and one short for the green and red respectively ? It’s genius or disaster.

Man I really love VIVO/IQOO right now! They are really launching good things in the market. I just wish so badly that they would unify their code and merge the base with ColorOS and stop the abomination that is FunTouch. They’re cracking the hardware code left right and center and just need to work on their software.

Vojtulee, 23 hours agoLet’s not forget that the 1″ sensor is not exactly a 1″ sensor.Let’s not forget that 1/1.31″ on S23U is not exactly 1/1.31″.
