Traffic Watch: Summary of Road Construction in Washtenaw County, November 6

ANN ARBOR, MI — There are a handful of construction projects in Washtenaw County that could affect travel times, traffic and road closures this week.

South Maple Road at Russell Street: Vehicles will deal with a lane change in the area while construction of a new concrete access to Russell Street takes place.

The lane change on South Maple Road will be at the intersection of Russell Street, which is just south of Liberty Street. Since the southbound lane of South Maple Road is closed, traffic is being diverted to the center turn lane through the project area.

Northbound and southbound traffic is planned to be maintained during this closure, but some minor delays in travel times can be expected. Local traffic to Russell Street will also be maintained during this time.

The project is scheduled to run until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 15. For more information about the project, visit its Web page.

East Washington Street: The road between South Division and South State streets will be closed until 5 pm on Saturday, November 19.

The street closure is part of a project to bring a 19-story high-rise building behind the historic Michigan Theater. Contractors will install utility cables in all lanes for the development during this time.

The full street closure will be in effect for the duration of the construction which will take place between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:30 pm every day of the week.

Westbound traffic traveling on East Washington Street will use South State Street, East Liberty Street, and South Division Street to traverse the closure. Eastbound traffic will be detoured along Fifth Avenue and Liberty and State streets.
