Satellite connectivity is one of them.
What is satellite connectivity?
For people who are not aware of the satellite connectivity feature, the feature is designed to allow emergency messages to be sent even when Wi-Fi and cellular connections are not available. When you are in an emergency and want to send emergency messages to some family or friends, but you are out of WiFi or mobile data coverage range, the satellite connectivity feature will help you there. Apple says that it “was designed for use in open spaces with a clear line of sight to the sky, so performance may be affected if trees or buildings are nearby.” Therefore, you should be careful where you should try to be in an open environment as much as possible and check if the trees, bushes and buildings do not surround you densely.
It should be noted that the use of the satellite connectivity function may take time, depending on the conditions mentioned above. The experience differs from sending or receiving messages via cellular or WiFi. When there is a direct view of the sky with no distractions around the horizon, news can take 15 seconds to arrive. But when some trees or buildings densely surround it, it can take up to a minute for the message to be delivered.
Seeing that, users are curious and excited to experience the new satellite connectivity feature announced with the series. However, the feature is not currently available in India. For reference, Apple says the feature will be available in November 2022, but hasn’t mentioned any specific release date. But we have made some assumptions by which you can know when the feature will be available for testing.
