With only 24 days left until the largest helium balloon and illuminated holiday parade in Texas, on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m., the McAllen Holiday Parade, presented by HEB and powered by Bert Ogden Auto Group We still have plenty of announcements and great features to get the community involved, excited, and feel rewarded for this year’s unveiling of the annual Christmas tradition. In addition to a special raffle that includes a host of prizes, featuring a special prize package from Bert Ogden Auto Group and additional parade route seating options benefiting local organizations, two additional Dallas Cowboys legends were added to the roster of former Super Bowl champions who were joined by a team of players who made an appearance, including No. 24 cornerback Larry Brown and No. 58 strongside linebacker Dixon Edwards. If that wasn’t enough, iHeart Radio’s nationally syndicated morning show host Tino Cochino will also be a part of this year’s celebrity appearances.
“Christmas is about Christmas wishes coming true and for the thousands upon thousands of Dallas Cowboys fans here in the Rio Grande Valley, having these legends here for our amazing parade is like a Christmas wish coming true. Christmas morning in a blue and blue sea. silver,” said McAllen City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, PE “I love it.”
Echoing that sentiment was Marsha Green, vice president of marketing for Bert Ogden Auto Group, noting how proud the auto group is to be the power behind pulling all 60 floats in the parade.
“This parade is magical. It embodies the spirit and wonder of Christmas, where fantasies and fairy tales come to life as dazzling, animated and illuminated displays on the various floats, all pulled by none other than a Bert Ogden vehicle,” said Green. “The floats, lights, balloons, bands and all the equipment that puts on this event help give our entire Rio Grande Valley community and beyond a Christmas gift that will last a lifetime: the memory of this charming parade, right here in McAllen.”

Also making an appearance as celebrity is Tino Cochino, the host of iHeart Radio’s nationally syndicated morning show, who will serve as the DJ for South Padre Island’s Vuelta Zone, where those giant helium balloons will do the famous 360-degree spin. Additional ticketed seating options were also announced, helping to benefit the community. Chairs along the parade route, for just $10, are being sold by 11 organizations, as fundraisers for their group, including the McAllen High School Booster Clubs, for McHi Baseball; Football McHi; McHi Basketball; McHello joy; Ravaging baseball; Choose to change; mustang joy; Sanchez Elementary PTO; roadrunner; Nikki Rowe Softball; and the McAllen Parks and Recreation Senior Living Program. Contact any of these groups individually to purchase tickets or shop at any of the McAllen Community Centers, including: Lark Community Center, 2601 Lark Ave.; Las Palmas Community Center, 1921 N. 25th St.; o Palmview Community Center, 3401 Jordan Rd.
As a reminder, anyone who wants to be a part of this year’s parade can do so in a number of ways, including submitting a ticket to the McAllen Holiday Shoebox Parade; or volunteer as a banner carrier or balloon handler.
Tickets for the Shoebox Parade must be in a shoebox and can include any type of craft, toy, Christmas decorations, lights, or countless other items to celebrate the “South Pole and Beyond,” the theme of both the shoebox and of the great parade. The winning entry in the shoebox float will be converted into a royal float for the 2023 edition of the McAllen Holiday Parade.

The parade will begin at 6:00 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 N. Bicentennial Blvd. Ticket prices start at $10, plus stadium service fees; SPI Zone Lap; Skybox fan experience; or any of the community group chair seats for the parade and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com; at the box office of the McAllen Performing Arts Center, 801 Convention Center Blvd or any of the community groups. There are also plenty of free seats along the parade route, on a first-come, first-served basis.
For the past four years, the McAllen Holiday Parade has been named the Best Parade in the World, and this year it won the Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Organization of Festivals and Events. The McAllen Holiday Parade has also been named the The best parade in Texas in the last five years by international and state organizations of the events industry.
